Like most employees at Continental, I started off as a temporary, and within the last year and a half, I completed my one-year contract, got hired on as a member of the new part-time crew, and moved my way up to a full-time employee. I am cross-trained as a Valve Operator and a Failure Analysis Quality Inspector, and enjoy both my job titles very much. Working here has helped me balance my education and life, as well as having a steady job. Since I’ve started, I’ve had many mentors whom I love to learn from and who continue to teach me more and more everyday. I can definitely say that Continental has provided me many opportunities to grow in my career, education, and life, and I am extremely proud to be a part of such a supportive team of employees that strive to break the ground in the automotive industry.

I am a Human Relations Intern at Continental. I love the fact that the company is so flexible with its workers and that they hold employee and customer satisfaction in high regard. I have been able to get the hands-on experience needed to complement my degree through their internship program. I feel that my opinion matters and have challenges that keep my job experience interesting. I am given opportunities to learn all the aspects of my position at my comfort level. Continental is an exciting place to work for in that they are a growing company that not only supports and encourages their employees, but the community as well. Continental provides the balance I need to finish my degree, get work experience, and still take care of my family.

I am a Quality Technician at Continental Automotive Morganton. My main role in the manufacturing process is to follow-up with failure analysis operators when they have an issue or quality concern to ensure that our parts meet our quality standards. The personal satisfaction I get out of my job is knowing that every day when I come in I have a great support system of co-workers and we are all working towards the same goals. Knowing that we are quickly approaching an era of automated driving systems makes my job feel even more important as the company continues to push forward with developing a safer driving experience. When I first started working here, I was employed as a temporary operator. It is hard for me to believe that I started out in a small non-permanent position and then moved up to the position that I have now in Quality with help and training from many wonderful people. I never believed that I would have the opportunity to travel to Europe, to train and tour other facilities, and to be involved with the building and qualifying of the manufacturing lines that make our units. There are some days, weeks even, when things are tough and you feel exhausted, but it is all worth it knowing that you are working to make the world a safer place for your family, your friends, and yourself.

Continental Morganton offers opportunities for career advancement through development activities that are supported by tuition reimbursement. I started at Continental when I was 20 years with an Associates degree. While employed here, I achieved both my Bachelors and Masters degrees. My education allowed me to apply for higher level positions.

When I was hired by Continental, I had only traveled on vacation to a few destinations within hours of Morganton. While working at Continental I travel on business several times a year. Most of my trips are to the Michigan area. In 2017, I had the opportunity to travel to Frankfurt Germany. Continental offers competitive wages and a generous paid time off benefit. Both have allowed me and my family to take annual vacations to many destinations.

My extended family all live in the Western North Carolina area. It is a beautiful place to live with mountain biking trails, green ways, Lake James, and downtown Morganton. The downtown area is growing with new restaurants, festivals, music on Friday nights, and shopping. It is a blessing to be able to work in Morganton for a global company that provides life saving products and promotes personal growth and opportunity.
